Behind Blen’s Time
From a childhood job in Nicaragua to a Houston bench.
Behind Blen’s Time is watchmaker Javier Blen, whose relationship with the craft began at only 10 years old in Nicaragua.
When his family told him it was time to begin working, Javier found his way into watch repair. What started as a childhood job quickly became a lifelong fascination with watches, their movements and the precision required to restore them properly.
While still young, Javier began operating his own shop in Nicaragua, handling the work himself and developing the hands-on knowledge that would eventually become Blen’s Time.
More than 35 years later, that same experience is still at the center of the business. Javier has spent decades working directly with watches and jewelry, understanding how different movements operate, how individual components interact and how a timepiece should perform when the work is complete.
Every piece that comes to the bench receives personal attention — from an everyday battery replacement to a treasured timepiece, delicate repair or custom design.
Here in Houston, the work is still done carefully, by hand, by someone who has spent most of his life at the bench.
